About Anita Odekirk
I'm a play enthusiast and I like to incorporate fun into everything I offer, including my yoga classes. I've practiced yoga for 20 years and earned my certification through the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, studying with Coby Kozlowski and Jennifer Reis. I'm also certified in Yin Yoga, and Let Your Yoga Dance®, and am a SoulCollage® facilitator. And I have my Reiki II certification. Whether it's yoga, art, meditation, singing, dance, or anything else, I'm a lifelong learner.
I practice and teach yoga because I love the way it makes me feel so good inside and out and I want to help others feel that too. My body is stronger and more flexible when I practice on a regular basis and when I'm synchronizing my breath with a yoga flow it helps me stay in the moment and let go of the outside world. When I'm tuned into my body and in a yoga flow I get to experience a place of peace. You could say it helps me stay in just that moment which is so great, a place of serenity in what can be a hectic world. I love that aspect and it's another reason why I practice, teach, and love yoga so much. I always find gratitude from every yoga practice and that's the best especially when I get to share that gratitude with others. I also love putting together a great playlist for my yoga classes because for me, adding music to my practice takes me even deeper into my body, it helps me release emotions, and it feels like it deepens the healing properties that yoga and especially savasana can bring.
I love teaching Let Your Yoga Dance® because the dance of the chakras gets into my bones, the beat of the music moves into the soles of my feet and up through my body, and it feels so freeing. There's no judgment, no comparisons, just me (and you when you wish to join me), it's the music and moving in any way that my body needs to move, total freedom and letting go. And then there's SoulCollage®, it's a creative process that always helps me know in an even deeper way who I really am inside. When I'm not "thinking" and I'm allowing myself to be in the creative process, what comes out on the cards and through the "I am" process is always amazing. I love it because the cards are from my own "soul" my intuition, that "knowing" place in my heart. And what's really cool is when I need some extra guidance I can pick a card and it's from the deepest part of me that I get an answer, l love that.
Gratitude for my family and friends, hiking in the mountains and seeing wild flowers, waterfalls, and sitting in the sunshine, that and so much more to be grateful for.
I am the one who continues to live life with courage. I've taken teacher trainings, gone back to college at age 45, moved to Oregon and back again, lived in Sedona for 6 weeks, and done a work study at Esalen in Big Sur. I've done triathlons and a half ironman, jumped into Crater Lake off the high bluff into the freezing water, test rode motorcycles across the country, taught motorcycle safety classes, hiked in the Rockies, went zip lining, and saw grizzlies and glaciers in Alaska with my sister. I am the one who continues to open to new adventures and play full out each day while being grateful for all that is.
